CANCELLED - Big Rock Ridge

Depending on what we see along the way we may make it all the way to the 1,895-foot summit of Big Rock Ridge, the second highest peak in the county after Mount Tamalpais. This walk doesn’t involve particularly steep sections as it climbs through open grassland, oak woodland, and chaparral. The views along the way are excellent, and the panorama from the summit is breathtaking. Total miles: 6.5. Elevation change: 1050’. Remember to bring lunch, and binoculars if you have them. No pets (except service dogs) are allowed. Save time on the day of the event by signing in now. Be sure to check the calendar or call (415) 473-6086 two hours before the event to confirm the status. Illness, adverse weather, or poor air quality may cancel.

Directions: Meet at the Big Rock trailhead in San Rafael. From Hwy 101 in San Rafael, take the exit for Lucas Valley Rd west approximately 5.5 miles (look for the big rock). The trailhead is on the north side of Lucas Valley Rd.
