Sheet Mulching at San Geronimo Park

Marin Water

Join the Watershed Stewards Program at San Geronimo Park to help prepare a weedy section of the park for native planting in the fall.

Saturday, May 31, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

San Geronimo Park, 5800 Sir Francis Drake Blvd San Geronimo, CA 94963

What to Expect:

  • Kick off the morning with a quick safety talk.
  • Work as a team to conduct sheet mulching close to San Geronimo Creek. The work area is currently full of invasive plants and has little native cover. Sheet mulching helps to suppress weeds and create fertile soil that will prepare the ground for native plants down the line.
  • Lunch is provided - so please RSVP!

This is a hands-on opportunity to learn about native plants, improve local ecosystems, and connect with fellow nature lovers! All experience levels and abilities are welcome. Volunteers should be comfortable using hand tools, bending, kneeling, and lifting. Please dress appropriately, wear close toed shoes, and bring a water bottle. Tools, gloves, water, and lunch will be provided. Event will occur rain or shine; in case of extreme weather call 650-468-9618 after 7 a.m. the morning of the event for updates.

Special thanks to Marin County Parks and Marin Municipal Water District for co-sponsoring this event.

Let’s dig in and restore the beauty of San Geronimo Park together!
