Turtle Observer Program

Marin Water

Spend time outdoors and become a community scientist with our Turtle Observer program! Help protect the Western Pond Turtle, the only native freshwater turtle in California, by assisting biologists in monitoring turtles in our reservoirs.

Learn about our turtles and other cool creatures in our lakes by joining our online event on February 12. If you want to complete the training to be a volunteer docent then also join our meeting on February 19. Both will be held online over zoom from 9-10:30 am.

Registration is required by signing up on the Turtle Workshop & Docent Training RSVP form

Part I, on Saturday, 2/12: Turtle Observer Educational Session will discuss the importance of wildlife conservation, the kinds of turtles on Mt. Tam, and why you should become a community scientist.

Part II, on Saturday 2/19: Turtle Observer Technical Training will cover monitoring protocols, turtle ID, and COVID safety precautions.
