Mount Burdell Early Blooms
Source: Marin County Parks
Mount Burdell Preserve
Tuesday, February 24, 2026, 10am – 2pm

One of the many rare plants found here in Marin County is an inconspicuous nodding white lily called the fragrant fritillary. We’ll visit a small population that should be in bloom this early in the season. Then we'll head up the trail to try to find other early bloomers like shooting stars, milkmaids, star lilies, and maybe a few surprises. This walk includes sustained uphill and fairly steep downhill sections. Total miles: 2. Elevation change: 450'. Remember to bring lunch, and binoculars if you have them. No pets are allowed, except for service/companion animals. Adverse weather or poor air quality may cancel. Registration is required.
Questions: Contact Shannon Burke
Directions: Meet at the gate on Simmons Ln in Novato. From Hwy 101 in Novato, take the exit for San Marin Dr west, follow San Marin Dr 1.2 miles. Turn right onto Simmons Ln and follow to the end (dead end).
