Salmon of San Geronimo Valley

This walk is for ages 18 and up. Each year, several species of Pacific salmon migrate up certain creeks to breed. We'll look for fish as we discuss the biology of these remarkable animals. The timing of these activities is subject to environmental variables but, with the recent rains, there's a good chance we might observe spawning activity. It can be very cold by the creek, so bring warm clothing and a rain jacket; also, polarized glasses are helpful to see the fish better.

Remember to bring binoculars if you have them. We request that no pets (except service animals) attend. Adverse weather may cancel. Check the calendar or call (415) 473-6086 after 8 am on the morning of the event to hear a recorded message if canceled.

Registration is not required. For more information contact, Naturalist Shannon at SBurke@marincounty.org.

Directions: Meet at the Leo T. Cronin Fish Viewing Area west of Lagunitas. From Hwy 101 in Larkspur, take the exit for Sir Francis Drake Blvd west 13.6 miles, the parking area is on the left (just past Shafter Bridge).
