Indian Valley Preserve

We’ll see what wet-weather surprises we can find along the way as we take some time focusing on ferns. Most of our common species are fairly easy to tell apart so we’ll work on learning to identify them while exploring the fascinating life cycle of these primitive plants. Total miles: 3.5. Elevation change: 400’. Remember to bring lunch, plus a hand lens and binoculars, if you have them. No pets (except service dogs) are allowed. Adverse weather or poor air quality may cancel.

Directions: Meet at the College of Marin Indian Valley Campus in Novato, parking lot 6 (1800 Ignacio Blvd). From Hwy 101 in Novato, take the Ignacio Blvd/Bel Marin Keys Blvd exit west onto Ignacio Blvd approximately 2.5 miles all the way through campus.
