CANCELLED - All About Oaks

Oaks and their acorns are vitally important to a broad spectrum of animals (including humans). We’ll discuss the role of these trees in local ecosystems as we compare several oak species and a few interesting hybrids. This walk is only a couple of miles long but includes a slow climb to the ridge and a fairly steep downhill section. Distance: 1.5 miles. Elevation change: 250'.

Remember to bring a lunch and binoculars if you have them. We request that no pets (except service animals) attend.

Be sure to check the calendar or call (415) 473-6086 two hours before the event to confirm the status. Factors including illness, adverse weather, or Air Quality Index (AQI) that exceeds 150 on AirNow.gov may cancel events.

Directions: Meet at the gate on Deer Island Ln in Novato. From Hwy 101 in Novato, take the exit for Atherton Ave east 1.7 miles. Turn right onto Olive Ave and left onto Deer Island Ln. The gate is on your right.
