Bull Point Botany

With most of the county showing signs of summer dryness, the moist, coastal climate of Point Reyes makes this one of the few places in Marin to enjoy a diverse array of wildflowers during the summer. We’ll take advantage of habitats ranging from freshwater marsh to coastal dunes, which support an assortment of unique plants and many beautiful flowers this time of year. Total miles: 2.5. There’s little elevation change but we’ll be off trail on uneven terrain. Wear sturdy shoes and full-length pants. This walk is offered in partnership with Point Reyes National Seashore. Remember to bring lunch, and binoculars if you have them. No pets (except service dogs) are allowed. Adverse weather or poor air quality may cancel. Registration is required.

Questions: Contact Shannon Burke.

Directions: Meet at the Bull Point trailhead in Point Reyes National Seashore. From Hwy 101 in Larkspur, take the exit for Sir Francis Drake Blvd west 20.4 miles to Olema. Turn right onto Hwy 1 and go 2 miles. Turn left onto Sir Francis Drake Blvd and go 11.7 miles. Trailhead is on the left (before the North Beach turnoff).
