Bear Valley

This shaded path is one of the best places in the county to enjoy a summer day. We'll follow a relatively level road enjoying the flowers, birds and other wildlife that thrive among towering Douglas-firs and stately alders. This walk is offered in partnership with Point Reyes National Seashore. Total miles: 4 miles. Elevation change: 275'. This is a wide, well-maintained fire road. Remember to bring binoculars if you have them. No pets (except service dogs) are allowed. Adverse weather or poor air quality may cancel. Registration is required.

Questions: Contact Shannon Burke.

Directions: Meet in the large parking area on the other side of the road from the Bear Valley Visitor Center. From Hwy 101 in Larkspur, take the exit for Sir Francis Drake Blvd west 20.4 miles to Olema. Turn right onto Hwy 1. Go 500 feet, turn left onto Bear Valley Rd, follow 0.6 miles, turn left on Bear Valley Visitor Center Access Rd. Park in the gravel lot on the left (past the driveway for the Red Barn, and past the Visitor Center parking area on the right).
