Stargazing at Mount Burdell

Join Ranger Gabe and the Marin Stargazers for an evening of stargazing. Connect with the cosmos as we explore the spring night skies. Soon after sunset, we'll witness the stunning sight of the crescent moon aligned with the two bright stars Castor and Pollux, also known as the twins of Gemini. As it gets darker, we'll spot the colorful double stars Algieba and Cor Caroli. Our sky tour will also include pointing out the constellations of spring, such as Leo the Lion and Ursa Major, the Great Bear. Lastly, we'll observe galaxies at vast distances, including the Sombrero galaxy, and take a deep dive into space. Knowledgeable volunteers with telescopes will guide you. All you need to bring along is your curiosity! Distance: 0.5 miles; elevation gain: 200 feet. Appropriate for the whole family. Bring a red flashlight and binoculars if you have them. Friendly dogs are okay but must be on a leash. Adverse weather or poor air quality may cancel. Check the calendar, or if in doubt, call (415) 473-2816 two hours before the event to confirm the status. Registration is required.
