50th Anniversary: Learn to Fly Fish

Come celebrate our anniversary by joining park rangers to learn the secrets and tricks of fly fishing. Bring your own fly rod (we will provide a limited number of rods that will be available on a first-come, first-served basis). We will cover basic casting, imported knots, and what flies to use and when. We will not be fishing during the event, but you are welcome to stay after class and fish. A valid California fishing license is required when fishing from the shore, not from the pier.

Please dress in layers and wear sturdy shoes. Remember to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat. No pets (except service animals) are allowed at this park. Park entrance fee is waived for participants.

Air Quality Index (AQI) that exceeds 150 on AirNow.gov, or other extreme weather may cancel events. Check the calendar or call (415) 473-6086 after 8 am on the morning of the event to hear a recorded message if canceled.

Registration is not required. For more information, contact Ranger Nova Hairston at NHairston@marincounty.org.

Directions: From Hwy 101 in Novato, take exit 463 for San Marin Dr west 2.9 miles. Turn right onto Novato Blvd and follow for 2.6 miles. The park is on the left.
