One Tam: many ways to give back to the mountain that gives us so much

Internship Program

Investing In the Next Generation of Stewards and Building Capacity

The One Tam Internship Program expands the capacity of existing stewardship programs while providing career pathways and job skills for local youth and young adults. Whether restoring sensitive habitat, preserving historic features, improving trails, educating youth, or engaging citizen scientists, interns gain on-the-ground experience and job skills while working to improve the lands of Mt. Tamalpais.

Interns are recruited from local communities with the goal of reflecting the diversity of individuals who share a connection to and passion for the mountain. The program provides various levels of engagement so that interns can gain more skills and expand their roles as they advance into tiered positions. The goal is to provide pathways for youth from high school through post-college, and to prepare these participants to assume a range of jobs in conservation and park management. A variety of trainings are provided, including office and field work skills.
